Seminal English 77 Punk Rock band The Vibrators will be making a stop at the famed Blue Cafe in Huntington Beach and yours truly is on the bill. Johnny Cheapo will open the show at 8pm so be there early. Also on the bill is Ol' Cheeky Bastard featuring former HB resident via San Francisco, Dave Dalton on lead vocals and resonator guitar, they play a great mix of punk rock folk blues not unlike the Pogues. Also on the bill Wastey Face and Bastard Winos.

RIP Eric Jan Snapper - March 14, 2009

"Snapper" was a great friend and family man and was once a friendly fixture as the bar tender at the Wooden Nickel in San Bernardino during the late 90s and early 2000's. He was an early admirer of Johnny Cheapo's music during Cheapo's early gigs at The Nickel. Many a late night revelry with this unforgetable character. He will be surely missed.

RIP Tonya "Trauma Mama" Vaughn WWAC 666 - February 28, 2009

Trauma Mama was a great friend and mother and was loved and respected by so many. She was an excellent roller derby skater for the Inland Empire Derby Divas, SoCal Rollers and The Syndicate. She was also a big fan of the Psychobilly Scene and was active with the international social group WWAC (World Wide Animal Control) She Will be Missed.

2009: The Dwarves and new Cheapo CD! - December 13, 2008

2009 is gonna be a better year that 2008. With the upcoming release of the new Cd, 2009 also bring a great show with my favorite band The Dwarves. Also look for some touring along the west coast, a couple of new videos (live and production). And of course more shows!!!!

RIP Danny "BIG D" Manuel (former Cheapo bass player) - November 5, 2008

Danny Manuel was probably one of the those guys with the biggest heart to match his frame. He was a thunderous bass player and enhanced the sound of many of the bands he played in: with LOS INFERNOS, GENGHIS CON JOB, and with yours truly JOHNNY CHEAPO. He touched all who he met and was always giving out some of the best advice, like a wise, old sage, sitting at the bar, pitcher in hand and great smile across his has. He would jab you with his finger as to say "your OK, everything is Great!"

I'll miss you my friend

-Cheapo

RIP Sick Rick - September, 2008

RIP Rick

Rick was always there to remind you how much of a puto you were, and he meant it with the sincerest of hearts.

Sobriety really changed Rick beacuse he was even more hyper than usual from all those energy drinks he drank.

Rick was a real stand-up guy even when he was passed-out lying on the floor of the hospital emergency room

Rick was warm and honest, even when he told me what a piece of shit my motorcycle was, he had a way of breaking it to me gently,

Although Rick wasn't up for a father of the year award he was loved and respected by his children and

Rick would be the first to tell you he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he wouldn't hesitate to show you that the one he carried was. Occasionally he would pull it out and make stabbing gestures with it just for kicks.

Yes "Lude and Rude" was a badge he wore proudly. A badge that was already taken by such greats as Iggy Pop, G.G. Allen and Ricardo Sanchez Medina.

Rest in Peace my Friend

Johnny Cheapo to host (anti-) Talk Show - May 19, 2008

Johnny Cheapo is once again on the move in the world in front of the camera but this time as host of a new punk-rock talk show called Kill The Talk Show. The show is the brain-child of Ron Tidwell and Rich Ramone of Black Coffee Films. Cheapo has previously worked with Tidwell and Ramone in the past with a film project, and a music video project for one of his songs. Among the guest will be local bands playing acoustic sets, artist, writers, photographers and other scene-sters and maybe a rollergirl or two. Coming in early summer!

Happy New Year - January 27, 2008

THE CD WILL BE DONE BY MARCH!

A Busy Summer! - September 1, 2007

Lots of things happened this summer and more to come:

-In June Black Coffee Pictures filmed a music video for the song Rock N Roll Queen. We filmed it at the bar Alibi East in Pomona in one 12 hour day. The video is now in post- production and will be posted here and on myspace when the final product comes out.

-Also I finished composing and recording the score for the Black Coffee movie Stranded, Broke and Ugly, it is also in post-production and details about where to watch it will be posted as soon as I know.

-I went to Vegas to play at Double Down Saloon in August to play for Rollercon 2007 which is a convention for roller derby enthusists. Lots of great times and lots of great people.

-Oh and speaking of Rollerderby I'm still reffing for the IEDD and occasionaly for AC/DG. Come down a watch me get yelled at by a bunch of hot chicks on wheels.

-The new Johnny Cheapo CD is still on hold until funds are available to put it out or until another label puts it out for me. This may lead an itunes only release if at all possible.

-More road trips are in the works-possibly to Frisco and Sacto-stay tuned.

Also July residency at the Blue Cafe in Long Beach with my other band The Felony Anthems was such a good time that they asked us back to play every Sunday in Sept and a few other shows.

Check here for more info.
